Reply | 30 Dec 2014, 02:11:13   Looking for a few good beta testers for new live game interface As many of you are aware, the Java Programming language currently used for live games is being phased out because of security issues. In other words, now and going forward, many of your computers will not have Java installed. With this in mind, we have created a new live games interface that does not use Java. Rather it uses HTML5 and works within your browser without the need for any other plugins. We are in the process of testing this interface and are looking for beta testers to try it out. In order to use the interface you will need to be using Windows 7 or 8, with a current version of a browser like Chrome, Firefox or Internet explorer. It should also work with Mac and Safari, though we have not yet fully tested that. If you are currently using the non-Java interface to play Corr games, you can still be a beta tester. You won't see any difference with the interface other than you will now be able to play live games. If you are currently using the Java interface, you won't see any difference at all - it's just that the Java won't be used. If you try it out and it doesn't work for you, we can just switch you back to whatever you were using before. Note that for now the live games with the new interface only use one board size and color. If you are interested, please reply to this post or send a Caissa message to AdminBrian. Please include your computer's operating system and browser type. Thanks! Edited on 30 Dec 2014 at 02:17:45 |

As long as my browser supports WebSocket under the OS version I am using, does it really matter what OS version that is? |

When I tried to sign on with either, I just got a freeze. Then, I tried it with the Java box checked, and I reached Caissa OK, but with my regular Java interface. Then I switched to Firefox and was able to bring the new Interface up fine. I don't notice any real difference in how the two interaces work, except that with Java I have my own custom board and pieces, whereas with the new Interface I have the standard board, which is, to my taste, not nearly as attractive as my own setup (posted on the Miscellaneous BB). After usin gthe new interface I went back to Java so I could choose my pieces and board. WizardNo1 |
